Payroll Giving

Give more. Pay less. Help more hounds!

What is payroll giving?

Payroll giving allows employees to donate to a charity from their salary prior to tax being deducted.

It is a great way to donate to Forever Hounds Trust as each £1 you give will only cost you 80p (and the savings are even greater if you pay a higher rate of tax).

The donation is taken directly from your salary via your HR or Payroll department, after completing a simple form. As a payroll donor, you are in complete control of your donations and can change the amount and frequency whenever you need to.

How it works

Your chosen donation amount is deducted from your gross pay before tax. The tax relief means that it costs you less to give. The amount is calculated depending on your tax bracket.

For example, if you decide to donate £5 a month and are in the 20% tax bracket this will cost you just £4. If you are in the 40% tax bracket the cost to you is £3. Your chosen charity will receive your entire gift amount of £5.

You can find out more about this tax effective way of giving on the HMRC website.

Donating through Payroll Giving will help us help even more hounds and work towards our goal – a day when every sighthound is free from need or fear.

  • £5 can pay for ten identity tags, each month
  • £10 can flea treat and worm a dog, each month
  • £25 can pay for a coat to keep a dog warm and comfortable, each month

Information for employees

In order to donate via Payroll Giving your employer needs to be registered for the scheme. Check with your Payroll or HR department who will provide you with a short form to complete if they are registered. You choose which charity to support and by how much and your Payroll or HR department do the rest.

If your company is not registered for payroll giving, why not suggest it? It’s easy and free to set up.

If you do decide to give to us via your workplace please let us know. We would love to keep you updated about the difference your kind donation is making for the hounds.

Information for employers

Payroll Giving is one of the easiest and most effective ways to raise money for charity. It’s also a great way to boost staff morale and motivation, and enhances your organisation’s charitable giving with little effort of cost to you. You can also attain a Quality Mark Award, a Government award given to companies who implement Payroll Giving.

You can register your company with the scheme through an HMRC approved Payroll Giving Agency such as Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) or Charitable Giving.

If you have any questions about setting up a Payroll Giving scheme, or would like more information about the benefits of donating to Forever Hounds Trust by Payroll Giving please get in touch.

Thank you so much for your support!
