Why are our regular donors SO vital to us?
Late one June evening in 2018, a call was received about a lurcher seen being thrown out of a van. Volunteers immediately went to rescue her and get her to safety, and they took her straight to a vet. ‘Selene’ weighed just 21kgs and had several lesions on her legs and body. She received emergency medical treatment and then was taken to an experienced foster home to recover.
Sadly, her recovery was not straightforward. When it was time for her to be spayed, there were complications, resulting in her spleen needing to be removed. She spent three nights at the vets being monitored. It was touch and go if she would survive.
This is why Forever Hounds Trust exists. Without the passion and dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our supporters, many dogs like Selene would be abandoned and left to suffer and die.
Everything that we do is for dogs like Selene. But we need YOUR support to enable us to continue to rescue and heal these hounds.

It costs us on average £800 to fund every dog’s journey from rescue to loving family pet. Our kennel spaces are full 365 days a year.
We suggest a monthly gift of £5, but the actual amount is up to you (minimum £3). A monthly gift by Direct Debit, helps us to plan effectively, cuts our administration costs, and gives you the benefit of knowing that more of your money goes directly to actively saving dogs’ lives.
You can also become a Friend with a single annual donation (minimum £36).
And you can become a ‘Friend for Life’ for a one off donation of £500.
As a thank you for being a Friend to the Hounds, you will receive our Newshound magazine, containing advice on owning a sighthound, interesting interviews with those who work with and care for these dogs every day, details of events across the country you and your hound can attend, and stories about dogs we have rescued and homed and who have come through terrible times to become an amazing family pet!
