‘The Great Barking Bake Off’ competition was held in the prestigious surroundings of Buscot Park in Faringdon, Oxfordshire on Sunday 18^th September as part of Forever Hounds Trust’s 20^th Birthday Afternoon Tea Party.

There were two categories in the competition – bakes for humans and bakes for hounds! The cakes made for human consumption were judged by Buscot’s very own Mary, 74-year-old Mary Blakeman who has worked at Buscot for twenty years and for 16 of those years baked every cake that was sold in the tea room.

The dog cakes and biscuits were judged by Snuff, the resident whippet at Buscot who wasted no time in choosing her favourite tasty treat!

The baking competition was followed by an auction and raffle to raise funds for the Trust, and the afternoon passed with a ‘Homeless Hounds Parade’ and dog show.

Fundraising Manager for Forever Hounds Trust, Claire Gambrell, said: “The dogs were all very well behaved and the judges had a hard time deciding the winners of each category in the dog show as there were just so many wonderful animals there, and each deserved to win.”

Forever Hounds Trust is hugely grateful to Honorary Friend, Lord Faringdon, who allowed the event to take part in the grounds of his home and acted as judge for the fun dog show.
