Neuter to protect their future

**This appeal has now closed. Thank you to everyone who supported the campaign. We raised an amazing £16, 539!!!**

Double my donation!

Forever Hounds Trust rescue, rehabilitate and home unwanted, abused or abandoned sighthounds. Preparing these dogs for their forever homes involves providing behavioural support, kennelling and veterinary treatment. This includes neutering which has several health, behavioural and welfare benefits.

Neutering refers to the surgical removal of the reproductive organs in male and female dogs. This procedure has health and behavioural benefits as well as reducing unplanned litters, over-breeding and the number of unwanted animals.

Greyhounds in the racing industry are not neutered to enable those with the best track performance to be used for breeding.

Over 10,000 dogs enter the racing industry annually and all of the greyhounds we rescue from the race track come into our care unneutered.

Brood bitches produce litter after litter often until the age of nine. The impact on their health is enormous and they typically lead empty lives in enclosed sheds. Neutering is important for so many reasons, please help us fund this vital surgical procedure and be here for every dog that needs us.

Forever Hounds Trust neuter all dogs before they are rehomed, unless there are medical or behavioural reasons why this is not advisable. Neutering delivers a range of health advantages – including lowering the risk from several types of cancer, behavioural benefits, and helping to decrease the vast number of animals needing homes.

As a larger breed, neutering a greyhound typically costs £120 to £250 for a male and £180 to £400 for a female. Our appeal aims to raise funding to neuter 40 dogs.

Donations to our Neuter to protect their future appeal will be DOUBLED between midday on 30 November and 7 December
