Important: Please read our latest COVID guidelines before you apply to adopt this lovely hound.

Lyric is a delightful 7 year old Saluki X who has been in a foster home for the last 4 months. She didn’t have the best start in life and we think she has been worked and used for breeding many times over. As a result, she has some behavioural quirks which she will need some support with.

Lyric is a sweet, but VERY shy little girl, who feels more comfortable around women, so is looking for a female only home, or where a female can do most of the caring initially. She is very polite and well behaved in the house, always clean, and sleeps right through the night.

She enjoys her own company, and likes to spend time in ‘her’ room but will present herself for dinner, and to have a little wander – therefore, she would like a safe place to call her own in her new home. She also enjoys spending time in the garden, and as her gentle playful side has started to emerge, zoomies have been a joy to watch. A decent sized garden will be important for her new home or access to a regular secure safe outside space.

Lyric really enjoys going for a walk, and will trot along happily, and she is looking for a home where she can continue to enjoy quiet but regular walks. She does not like other dogs in her face, and will shout at them if they get too close are are too bouncy – she is generally very unsettled by dogs and often chooses to avoid but can also be reactive, so adopters would need to be prepared to support her with this going forwards. She would like to live in an area where there isn’t high dog traffic, and will need to be the only dog in the house.

Because of her very shy nature, Lyric needs a gentle and quiet home, with patient and understanding people who will let her take things at her own pace and expect very little of her initially. Adopters will need to be prepared that several meets might be needed before she is ready to move to them. It should be expected that she will be very worried initially, but with time, patience and positive reinforcement, over a period of months, her personality will start to emerge.

If you have a busy household, or are looking for a demonstrative dog who will shower you with affection, Lyric definitely ISN’T your girl. However, if you have the time, interest and patience to support a dog who might need a bit more support, and who we hope will emerge into a funny, gentle and playful companion – Lyric might just be the girl for you!
