Sensitive Kai is looking for an understanding home where he will be given the time and training needed to help him successfully settle in his own time.

New owners would benefit from sighthound experience as this 2 year old is quite typical to his breed, for example showing chasey behaviour towards cats and counter surfing. He will need a private, fully secure garden to stretch his beautiful long legs.

Kai requires guidance and reassurance around other dogs as he can be worried and vocal. He doesn’t want to miss out on the fun so will run up, bark and bow at other dogs to invite them for a game but than gets overwhelmed and needs guidance from people. We are looking for owners that have experience of training under socialised dogs using positive reinforcement techniques that have a strong understanding of dog body language.

This sensitive boy can also take some time to warm up to new people and has shown some tricky behaviours when around them for this reason he requires an adults only home with no visiting children (though a little bit of tasty food does help win him over slowly when thrown to him). Once he does know you, his more bubbly personality shines through. In fact, once he knows his people, he doesn’t want them to leave, and thus has shown separation anxiety in his previous home for this reason he needs someone home most of the time.

Kai doesn’t like going to the vets. While sweet and tolerant for general checks, he will scream when a needle goes near him. We can’t really blame him, but his confidence will need building with informal vet visits.

All this is worth it, however, when you see how affectionate he can be with his people, and when you see him throw all his legs in the air when a ball bounces past. He really love his toys and its lovely to see him have so much fun!

Kai may not be perfect, we truly think he is worth it. Can you offer this gorgeous boy the home he needs? You can apply to adopt Kai here: https://www.battersea.org.uk/dogs/kai
