Handsome James is a four year old ex racer who is now looking forward to starting his new life. He is a sweet but very sensitive chap who is going need some lots of positive guidance in his new home.
James is always desperate to please and is always wanting to try his best, but sometimes his worries get the better of him and he can find ‘busy’ situations a little overwhelming, for example he doesn’t like walking in busy areas, or where there are noisy off-lead dogs. Therefore, James would like to live in a quieter environment where there is less to worry about – shorter walks, and a large enclosed garden would be perfect to ensure he can enjoy stretching his legs without too much pressure, especially considering he has a high prey drive too!
James can initially be a bit unsure of strangers, but it doesn’t take him long to come round to people if no pressure is put on him. Once he feels comfortable around people he absolutely loves to be with them and really is a gentle giant – well mannered, loves neck scratches, enjoys being groomed, walks nicely on the lead and is a pleasure to be around.
Given his insecurities, James would either like a calm, well behaved sighthound friend to live with to help him settle in and show him the world isn’t always such a scary place, or, he could be an only dog if his people were around most of the time to keep him company and help him gain in confidence.
In foster he has proven himself to be clean in the house, non destructive and polite around food – he has not attempted to counter surf or bother his fosterers while they eat. He loves nothing better than lounging around in his bed or on a comfy sofa – James is certainly not your high energy hound! Any time he is left alone should be built up gradually at a pace he is comfortable with.
